The pad-removal mod is the easiest mod ever and I think is the most important thing to get the K 81 DJ to sound right.

But you're happy now, so that's all that matters.

My weapons of choice: AD2000 and ES7.

Looks like were slowly ending up with the same headphones Asr, you should try the CK7 if you haven't already.

How would you compare the CK7 to the ES7 as it relates to the AD2000? I am looking for a portable closed can that does the best job of replicating the the sound of my AD2000s.

Thanks
Greg

dang, this thread is slowly making me regret selling my ES7... where did all the ES7 fans come from all of a sudden?

I love the ES7.

It's beautiful and it sounds great.. it's got a sound that really does everything well. It's a euphony that I appreciate in a full-size in the same way I appreciate accuracy in an IEM.

Although it's not highly technical, I'm sure that subjectively it could compare very well to non-portable cans around its price range as well. It's got a sound that has no glaring faults or weaknesses; it really sounds good with everything.

I just bought ES7 based on the well written review (thank's), so far I have used them for about twenty hours or so.

I think they are a very good complement to my HD 25-1, more detail and better treble extension although the bass is somewhat bloated in comparison with HD 25-1. I don't think HD25-1 has more bass (although it may be considered ass slightly bass heavy), it just seems to have better quality. HD25-1 is also more tonally correct. Time will tell which can I will use the most, ES7 does however seem to suit certain recordings much better, they are also very engaging.

Now I am looking for a can for my main rig, is there a can with the virtues ES7have but with a tighter bass? Asr mentions the AD2000, would that fit the bill? I don't necessarily need more bass than ES7 have, in fact I find the quantity sufficient, just better control and maybe slightly deeper.

Another request for a CK7 feedback from 3X0 or ASR. Someone said they are one of the best kept secret iems that surpasses its pricepoint.

I have done some further listening and I must say that ES7 is absolutely magnificent. Sonically they are very different from HD25-1, it's like removing a veil (the famous Sennheiser veil). ES7 has more snap and attack and it seems that the bass is becoming more controlled. Today I could not detect any tendency towards boomy bass. This will be my preferred can for listening in bed from now on.

Thank's for starting this thread, asr

, you have made me discover a great can. On the down side is that this can has made me want to find out how good the better AT cans are

. If, as you suggest, AD2000 is similar to ES7 but better in all respects this is going to cost me a lot of money..........

Hey. Has anyone tried both the ES7 and ANC7? I am very close to buying a new pair of ANC7s for $100 + S&H and I'd love to know if I should hold off and buy the ES7 when a deal comes around. The NC features of the ANC are not that important to me. What matters most are SQ and comfort.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot guys

. This thread got me going and I ordered an ES7 tonight from buy.com for $100 shipped. I am still really interested in the ANC7 but they'll have to wait. I think the main reason I wanted them is just to show off to all the Bosies (tm) in school.

Unfortunately, IMHO, I had to order the white model even tho from all the pix I really preferred the look of the black. It just wasn't worth an extra $30 or so and I like using a known seller better than the stores I've never heard of through Froogle.

Yay! I've joined another bandwagon!

As many members know, I love my CK7. I sold my FS1 and T25 recently since I felt there was no need to keep 'em since all I use are the CK7 and (once in a while) my HA-S350. They are an excellent value at ~$75 shipped.

Thanks Elephas, I almost had to leave head-fi to take a look. These very well could end up as my next set of cans for portable use. They sure have an elegant and refined appearance! ;-D
