How much sound improvement will I get from going from a DEJ1000 to a SlimX550?

hi deejayshakur, i like the remote very much... it's like u can access everything within few presses... i think the remote of 400 and 550 are identical, they just shift the forward/backward button to the side on 550...

In my opinion, i think u should return the 400 and try the 550 first if u can, then if u don't like it, u can return 550 and get another 400 back... u got nothing to lose here...

although i don't think u'll get the 400 again after tried the 550.....

Brad,

I had the X350 for awhile it sounds very good. X350 is not far behind when comparing with the D-777. If X550 has the same sound quality of the X350, it should trash the EJ1000, b/c EJ1000 is horrid sounding to my ears.

I've also decided this Sony CD/MP3 discman I bought is junk (Sony D-NE715). The highs give me an earache. The only possible use I can think of is to hook it up to a set of computer speakers for a cheap mini system somewhere in the house. I'll tell you, Purk, give a listen to a set of Boston Acoustic BA635 computer speakers sometime (like $65). I bought a set and it turns out I love them. Great midrange. Great. Really the best buy I can think of in budget audio these day. They sound so good for the money and are very forgiving. Excellent for setting up a second system on the cheap. I'm guessing they'll save this Sony CD/MP3 player from hitting the junk pile.

Hi [so]hai®

I notice you already have the equipment I'd like to get too
smily_headphones1.gif
....but I am a bit worried for iRiver 550 line-out.
I've read that the line-out is weak, and you say it's volume controlled, is it maybe that the analog line-out
is just the same as headphone out??? Could you please try using your Meta amp on both headphone out
and line-out and tell us about how it sounds? Also, have you tried connecting headphones on line-out port?
I'd just like make sure that buying an amp after buying iRiver 550 will make sense... I'd like to run
Sennheiser HD 600 on iRiver 550, without an amp it won't work cause of its high impendence (300 ohm)...

Maybe other solution is to buy Sostenuto-1 DAC and connect it via optical line... Anyone has this combo???

Thanks!

Boyan
