I think the title says it all. but all i want to know is sound quality, not features. and is the slimx quieter than the sony, hiss wise?


does this mean its not a true line out either, i got it off of a website that showed the 550's specs...

yeah im pretty surprised with the price on the 550. i just got my 400 3 days ago from amazon ($175+6 shipping). my opinion is that the 550 doesnt have the car kit so that allows the price to come down a few dollars. also, iriver is probably pumping out a ton of these units so an attractive price will help sales.

personally, i wanted to wait for the 400 to drop in price but i couldn't. oh well, hopefully the prices drops within 30days so i can get a credit hehe.

what do you mean? thats lower than what i expected... i think the 400 was 199 when it first came out. it hasn't dropped all that much since then because there haven't been any serious competitors to iriver's products.

anyway, we are belaboring this discussion. for ~$179 i think its a great starting price for the 550. if i could have it in my hands by next week, i'd buy it... unfortunately i can't so i went with the imp-400

and if you read the posts carefully, there is an american site from which you can preorder the 550.

Hrm... looks like its time to replace the imp-350. I got it last year and that was what started my craze and destruction of the wallet, combined with rc cars.
