how much noise isolation *should* I be getting from the shure e2cs?

I've never owned IEMs before, so I don't know how much isolation I should be getting or if I have the right fit...

if no music is playing, I can still hear outside noises and I have to put my creative zen to 15-20 to cancel all outside noise, even when listening to loud soungs

ideally, should all noise be "isolated" even if NO music is playing?

They shouldn't make everything around you go completely silent. It should be similar or a little less isolation than wearing actual earplugs

It doesn't sound like you have a proper seal. Try the foamies too. Because I know that's very loud for IEM's, even with earbuds I only had to use about 14 on that particular player.
