Countless hours surfing the site, receiving packages from parts of the world I didn't even know existed, making new friends, trying out lots of cool gear, hearing music better than ever before...

An awesome hobby! Thanks Head-Fi!

This is Classic; I wholeheartedly concur with this line of thought.

It's not about how much you've spent, but the friends, relationships, and gear you've built along the way. That said, I have a few brown love packets on their way to my domicile, which in turn brings my total spent to +2k, and counting.

More than I ever intended or thought possible, and the worst part is that I imagine myself spending much more than I already have. My concept of what is "expensive" changes each and every year.

132 euros

Impressive, huh?

372 euros if you count the soundcard but I didn't buy that specifically for the headphones. And an extra 200 euros if you count my external hard-disk, which isn't 100% music orientated either.

About $4000 on headphones.
More than double if I count source, amplification and cables as well.

Wmcmanus, where in the world do you find space to put all that gear?

My goodness!!

You could service some nation's deficit with that collection!

Just headphones? $350 (K701 + KSC75 + SportaPro headband), soon to be $653 (copper-cabled, velour-padded HD25-1 from Jan Meier), then, in a couple of months or so, to be $1103 (RS-1). Overall? Right now, it's at . . .

K701 = $300
KSC75 (modded) = $50
Micro Amp = $150
Micro DAC = $150
RSA Hornet "M" = $350
60GB iMod Photo = $375
Kimber 12" Mini-Mini = $45
Swans M200 = $200
Cardas 6" Mini-Mini = $0

total: $1620

Soon it's going to be $2373.
