How much isolation do the Shure E1 phones provide? I know they don't provide as much as the Etymotic phones do but do they provide as much isolation as most closed circumarul phones? I suppose the amount of isolation would depend on the ear plugs you use with it but I'm just hoping for a rough estimate or comparision.

Any earphone would isolate as much as any other if the user insterted them all to the same depth. If a common sleeve type is used, the isolation characteristics would be almost identical.

Dunbar's numbers are accurate. But as with anything, there is usually a range associated with it.

For an E1 there are 4 different type fo sleeve options:

Custom sleeve (22-26 dB isolation)
Foam sleeve (20-25 dB isolation)
Flex sleeve (15-20 dB isolation)
Triple flange sleeve (15-20 dB isolation)
