Usually any earphone with a design you won't find at your typical store looks expensive.
The Shure SE530's look the most expensive to me because it literally molds to your ear and it is very shiny. Also it has some heavy duty looking cables. Anyone agree?

I haven't actually seen SE530's in the flesh as Apple only stock up to SE310's at my local store. I have seen the X10's though, I think it is just how slick they look and the brassy colour and for the same reason I believe NE7's also look quite expensive for IEM's.

Space is a genteel and discreet form of luxury, a hybrid of Philips faultless technology and the timeless beauty of Swarovski fine crystal jewelry. This model features a faceted, drop-cut silver shade Swarovski crystal moulded in the stainless steel of headphones fitted to the ear. Lightweight (no more than 20 grams) and set with elegant transparent silver coloured fabric cables. The ear-phones are fitted with comfortable rubber pads.

In my experience, some of the best sounding headphones look like total crap. Headphone companies that put an emphasis on fashion & design usually carry very mediocre sounding products (think V-Moda or Skullcandy for example). I think if you find something that looks completely unattractive, yet carries a higher price-tag, it’s going to sound like something special. Case in point, etymotic er4’s, & portapros. Both have spectacular sound quality, yet you’d have a hard time finding someone in an Apple store or Starbucks wearing them. Damn hipsters

Alessandro MS-1... hmmm something distinctly hard about this one, doesn't truly look high end but is distinctly different and the cable is HUUUGE. So lets go for $70. The CMoy though.... $0.50
