How much better is ZMF Eikon than Beyer DT-1770?

Is Eikon that much better than the DT-1770?

I would really love to buy a pair of Eikons since I'm looking for one more closed pair to add to the stable. I just cannot afford the Eikon and don't know when I could. Beyers are reasonably priced over here. How much would I be missing out with the Beyer as opposed to the Eikon?

The only closed pair I have right now is the Fostex TR in mahogany.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the answers guys :D

Got a pair of DT1770s today but did not have time to give them a listen. When I get the money, Eikons at some point. Just because they're beauties, eh.

I've owned and sold both. I miss the Beyers more, TBH. Better comfort, better treble detail, more bass weight. Granted, their mid-range isn't as organic or as smooth as the Eikons.

Just sold my 1770 Pro. I enjoyed them for quite awhile but got Elegia recently. You won't be disappointed with the Beyers they are intense and good value at recent prices. Great for EDM Ambient Trance etc... sound coming from deep within very naturally, great space especially with thicker Dekoni pads. Good recordings sound excellent. I might even buy them again someday.

Thanks. I don't listen to any electronic, I'll see how they do with other music. I would like the Dekoni sheepskin pads. I hate the stock velour pads.

I got the 1770s and I think they're pretty good. One thing that feels odd is that the channel separation feels pretty overwhelming. Is this normal? I have only one other set of closed cans but I didn't notice the same effect on those. Maybe because the Beyers seal better?

I'll use Jan Meier's crossfade when I get home, it is probably the right medicine for this.
