Which headphone and what's your amp/digital train?

Phillips Fidelio X1.

PC - Xonar DG
Console - 5.8 MIXAMP
Portable - iPod with fiio l9 lod and topping nx1

To me the headphones mean a lot more than expensive amps/DACs.

Fidelio x1's are easy to drive

I always thought the X1 were one of the most attractive (without being flashy) type of headphones and look very comfortable.

I'm good with my sig. Started with the K-701 to the RS-1, a brief stint with the HD-580s and then the HE-6 when it came out. Bought it blindly and was underwelmed on my Singlepower Extreme. Then I read Dr. Fang used a Threshold speaker amp on them and I had a few speaker amps around to try. Haven't had an itch since.

I have a Beyerdynamic T1 (that I'm selling for some cash) that is just.. amazing. The sound stage is awesome, mids aren't recessed much, and the bass is pin point accurate and not bloated. Definitely an end-game headphone, I'll be grabbing another one someday when the money isn't as tight.

I only used it with my Fiio E12 connected to my PC with THX sound card (stock in my XPS 8300). It sounded really good with that setup, I can't imagine how much nicer it would sound with a high end amp/dac combo.

I had Porta Pros back in the day before I bought my first Grado. I thought it was really good for the price but didn't wow me like my first Grado listening experience.

This can't be your picture, there's no wooden Beyerdynamic box!

Haha I really need to grab a pair of Porta Pros, people praise them at their price point.

Computer with M-Audio 2496 sound card>HiFiMan EF-5> HE-500 (sometimes the amp is a Kenwood KR-5400 receiver).

I've given up listening to or searching for a "better" sounding headphone as this one does everything I want from a headphone and it's in the price range I can afford.

Strangly enough I dont know what my end game headphone would be but I KNOW what it would sound like.

Sound stage equal too or greater than, T1

Bass and speed equal too or greater then HE-500

so if some one could combine those too headphones into some sort of hybrid it would be perfect.

More like a collection of endgames for different genres.

. . . Still could use an HD600 for harpsichord records.

He 6 may be the closest. That's my end game for now until I start a new game.
