I have been buying low end earbuds for about 3 years ( Shures Klipst,Vmoda $30-$70 range) and they always seem to loose sound volume in one ear or another. About how long should an earbud last if you use it everyday for about half an hour?

Thanks

That's like asking how long a pair of shoes lasts. Depends how rough are u with it of course.

Expect the cable to develop sum kind of prob in 18 months that's all I can offer. They sell replaceable cables phones, but that's beyond your range$

Anywhere between 1 minute and 50+ years, depending on how you take care of them.
Threat them with care (clean, store in box, don't pull cable, ...) and they will last "forever". While in the opposite end you can perfectly manage to kill them before even leaving the store.

With normal/careful use, expect them to last a couple of years.

50 years! LOL yeah if they sit in a drawl! Lets say EVERYTHING goes perfectly, after 5 years u are so tired of them and ready for something newer, u WISH they fail.

So it seems they could last a fairly long time, given proper care, aside from cables breaking, pulled etc. does this apply to the audio component too? Is there some kind of driver or internal components that can go bad. I have had 3 ear buds over the last 2-3 years and each one has had one of the buds loose volume. I looked into cleaning it, thinking it might be caused by ear wax or some other coating in the ear, but that didn't help. As I said they get used half an hour a day, other than that they just sit on my dresser. I feel like I take pretty good care of them but because of a hearing problem, the volume is turned up to the high end most of the time. Could this cause the speaker to blow? or would it just stop working altogether and there would be no sound?

Thanks for your help
