I've noticed a lot of DIYer's boast impediance matching in their headphone amplifiers. How important is this feature ? How does an impediance match/mis-match affect the sound quality ?

Hey,

We aren't really "matching" impedance as in microwave transmission ducts. The amp is seen from the source has very large impedance load while the headphones will see very low impedance output.

These things can determine the damping factor of the headphone system. So in essense, it will effect your sound.

well, for one thing, it could make one channel louder than the other (if the resistance values in your gain loop are too different)
