The only time I use an attenuator is when I have to plug my IEMs into an airplane's audio system to watch a movie. Without the attenuator, it would be ear burstingly loud.

I use an impedance adaptor for other reasons, but the moderately loud hiss on my 30GB9 PO <direct to> my IEM which is slightly less sensitive than yours only bothers me on quiet passages and sonatas.

I find resistors or attenuators to be mandatory with sensitive iems.

My sf3's sounded thin and dull with any of my players, but when I added 50ohm resistors it cured them of all hiss and bass rolloff. Now they sound like they were intended. (all unamped of course)

I don't know how the triple driver models sound, but for my single drivers, extra resistance is a must.

Don't see why you should buy one.
Your Cowon d2 have volume control, and adding an attenuator into the signal path will on degrade sound.
