Looks like you'd miss the intro period for the HE-6 at $999. By the time your date rolls around they will be $1199.

Originally it was 8-9 months. He's been editing the time as time passes. I believe his purchase time is somewhere around March/April.

I am, but think I would currently prefer the SQ-N100 as an amp only.  I find my HRT is a great source and "good" enough for my current needs.  The few reports of the N100 with headphones has my knees all wobbly.  If I can somehow get my hands on a pair of HE-5/5LEs between now and graduation, then the N100 is a sure thing.

Just advising someone else on headfi and thought of this rig.

Everything here can be had for $2916.00 before shipping.

Between this and the Luxman/HiFiMan rig, its a tough choice.

O.k. Lets see who's feathers this ruffles?

I now it seems absolutely crazy to have a budget of around $3000.00, and only allocate $250.00 of it on the amp.  But there is a member of the forums who has been using the Asgard with the HE-5LE and says he has listened to more music in the last few months than he has in a long time.  Plus, this option would give me a iMac to use as a music server, allowing me to use my laptop only for school rather thank forcing it to multitask as a server.  I also get one of the best headphones produced, I keep my magnificent source, and cardas cabling all around.

I have the Asgard and will be getting the HE-6. I'll give them a listen together and let you know how they fair.

The Asgard is certainly not short of power. It can drive the K1000 easily. It just sounds like total crap doing so imo. If they sound good with the HE-5LE, who knows.

Interestingly, the K1000 sounds a lot better with a $30 HLLY t-amp.

The Asgard is a nice amp for the LCD-2 though.
