My Philips HN060 'phones were destroyed yesterday, thanks to someone getting on my train...

This girl decided to try and push on to the train whilst people (and me) were getting off, anyway, the headphone cord got snagged on her somehow, and whilst the Philips have a snap-lock neckband which falls apart to prevent this, that held fast, and instead, the cable got ripped out of the underside of the NC box...

Has anyone else had any more dramatic destruction of their headphnes? (apart from Billy of course, who makes it a habit to destroy his cans

a bit off topic, but somewhat in the same scenerio. one day i was walking home whilst wearing an a d66 eggo. and a stupid kid walking with his friends cameup behind me and then punch the eggo cup really hard, apparenty i got hit in the face too. there was marking of this knuckle on the eggo, but i just had to clean it off. the eggo was fine. more durable than i though. well sorry to let you down.

the only other time was when i was soldering and messing with the headphone driver, apparently it got too hot and died. my ath-fc7.

Mangled a pair of MS-1s about a year ago when I dove on a guy that was getting on my last nerve. He was intoxicated and just would not let it go so I gave him his wish and nailed him.
The headphones were around my neck as is my habit to carry them when not actually in use and somehow the handband while looking fine was a bit distorted and something just felt wrong when i tried to use them later. The earpieces just would not sit right and felt weird.
Being a "know it all " I decided I could fix them and save sending them out to Grado but instead ended up screwing them up worse when the metal pins pulled out of the earcups

When I tried to reinsert the the pins I enlarged the holes somehow making them useless as headphones.the damn earpices kept falling off

I felt bad at first for kicking my former buddies a*s (even though he pushed and pushed and would not quit) but once I realised I had wrecked the cans I wanted to kick it all over again but he was already gone

went to a buddy's party with my HD590's and a liter of Coke. shoved them both in my backpack and forgot all about them.

to make a long story short, the bottle cracked and spilled soda all over the headphone. when it dried, the HD590's was covered in sludge.

I had a pair of "Signet" headphones from the early 80s (kind of crunchie bright as I remember) that my first dog, a brittany named Jenny, found, as a pup almost twenty years ago, with headphone cord too close to her "play pen". When I found them again, the headband was gone, the earpieces were not recognizable, and the cord had been well mangled. Jenny was a much better dog then the Signets were headphones.

I'm glad to say I haven't broken any highend headphones so far *knocks on wood*. I've broken plenty of cheap freebie headphones though.

A Bang & olufsen FORM 1 just fell a part one day. I probably had sat on it one too many times and he just gave in when he felt his time had come

Let's see, the only things that I remember happening to any of my headphones that weren't free were:
-Aiwa HP-X222 - cabling broke, had to have my brother resolder, and original dampening paper was shot, so I tore it out. I want to bluetak mod these to see what I end up with, but a friend of mine has had them in his posession for the last 2 1/2 years. Not like I care though.
-Grado SR60 - 1/8" plug died from overuse and abuse. Successfully resoldered them myself, although they seem like they'd work well with dual mono (seperate ground leads

) or whatever.

I guess so far I've been pretty lucky with my cans, although I bet my luck will change once I start getting more cans to mess with, like HD580's, A900's, EW9s, and stuff like that. Alot of my crappy earbuds did break though, and not surprisingly in the least.

My HD600 cable broke after one year of pulling, twisting and stamping. When the sound became intermittent I opened the headphones and accidentally broke the right-side capsule. New parts cost about 200$

Sennheiser HD545 - the infamous connector failure. The contacts became intermittent within a year of purchase. Instead of returning them, I stuck them in storage and forgot about them until I got to Head-Fi and saw them mentioned.

I still have the phones. They still work beautifully -- I just have to push the connector in occasionally. Every CD or two.
