How hard would it be to repair a Fostex THX00

Note: I have no experience in soldering and stuff, most I've done was build several gaming pcs.

The headphones loses sound unless the cable is at a very specific angle, for both cups. Probably the cable needs to be replaced but I really have no idea how it would work, seeing as these cables are also sleeved.

Should I just ask a headphone repair to do it for me?

That headphone is expensive enough that I'd suggest having someone repair it. If you're determined, there's some good YouTube videos out there that give solid instructions on how to solder (and solder safely). You'll want to practice by making a few cables first and ensure you're getting good joints before moving on to the headphone. Kester 60/40 or 63/37 solder works well, please note that it has lead content so you need to follow proper safety precautions and wash your hands thoroughly after handling the solder.

Most likely the connector at the amp end needs to be replaced. Have you tried it with other devices/headphone amps?
