Alrighty, back in '98 my husband's family gave us the Sony RX110AV mini hifi system as a Christmas gift. We've always had rather crappy sources, but this one sounds a good bit better than boom boxes and PCDPs' past. My goal is to one day have a component system geared to headphone listening. So far I'm thinking the Senn 600s and Corda HA-2 connected to... what? Some kind of decent best bang for buck type source components as yet unnamed since this is so far off in the future.

However my headphone lust knows no boundaries. I really want to start my collection sometime in the coming year. But I stop myself, saying what good are Senn 600s with a good amp, when you have crap sources?

So to sum this up.. just how bad is my planned source, the RX110AV? I found some people at Audioreview that liked it, but I take it with a grain of salt. Could it do the 600s with a HA-2 even a little justice?

And why haven't I taken a listen to some better components myself? Well because once I've heard the bad news, I'll be too depressed, that's why.

Don't hold back.. Just how bad is my system?

Yeah, Audioreview.com seems to think it's decent, but I'd believe the second review over the first. I guess this summer I'm gonna find out just how good/bad that minihifi is. I don't think the Senn600s will lie about it.

What I do know is that this was one of the more difficult systems to find, and that my father in-law, a jazz trumpet player who while maybe not audiophile, certainly believes himself to take sound seriously, looked long and hard before choosing it. I also think at the time it was one of pricier units, but with a Sony that's not saying much.

I have a mini hifi sony stereo. MHC-7900. It is a mini component system with electrostatic tweeters. I can't find any information about it anywhere other than a foreign link for a instruction manual. It was a gift to me and costed $1200 back in 96. Anyone ever hear of it?
