My band is thinking of performing the song "Wah Wah" by George Harrison at a Beatles tribute show. While we're all very fond of the song, we want a second opinion of how popular / known the song is, before we finalize our decision of performing it live.

tough to say for me, because I've never listened to any beatle's solo besides All Things Must Pass and some Lennon, but I've never heard people talk about it.

that being said, it is catchy and just plain good enough to be covered. those who know it will get excited, and for those who don't you explain who wrote it and I'll think they'll get behind you.

First of all, Wah Wah is not a Beatles song but rather a song by one of the Beatles. Why not play an actual Beatles songs at the tribute rather than a song by one of the Beatles? There are plenty of good but not over played Beatles songs out there. Why not go with one of those. Perhaps another poll listing 5 to 10 of those songs will help you decide which one to cover for the tribute.

Well, I've never heard it and - unlike some others on All Things Must Pass - I've never heard of it either. I agree that it might be better to choose something else: I understand the desire to have an interesting choice, but if you leave people scratching their heads then you're unlikely to be making a massive contribution to the event. (Unless of course you can do such a fantastic version that it blows all doubts away ...

Great song. But not a Beatles song.

if you want to do an actual Beatles song (i personally thinks it's fine to do a Harrison tune, as he's certainly the most underrated of the four)... i'd suggest one of these:

"She Said"
"Only a Northern Song"
"Hey Bulldog"

three of my all-time favorite Beatles tunes, and tragically underplayed.

You have a very informed social circle.

I guess that explains my vote.

All Things Must Pass is one of my favorite albums of all time, and definitely my pick for the best post-Beatles piece of work, but Wah Wah is (IMO) one of the "throwaway" tunes on the album. I'd go with one of the wieghtier tunes, such as What Is Life (great guitar riff at the beginning).

Wah Wah is a great song. But if I was to pick something off All Things Must Pass, I would pick Isn't It A Pity.
