I tried to search for this a few times, but it was a little difficult since "black omega" is so vague. Anyway I'm 99% sure I'm going to get the OII in January and I was wondering how I could get a black OII in the US? I think I was going to go with PriceJapan since they have the best price at $1533, but if I can pay a bit more to get black pads thats what I would prefer.

Or another question, what is the cheapest way to get the O2 from an official US dealer? I remember seeing them for $1800 on some website (not AudioCubes)

Thanks

From what I know the black Omega II (SR-007BL) is pretty rare!
I bough mine from the Scandinavian distributor, and was informed that they only had sold three (3) systems ever. Of which I bought the last one...

I suggest you first contact PriceJapan, asking if they could get a hold of a black pair. Then move on to the US distributor (Yama’s Enterprises, Inc.) if PriceJapan can't help you...

As far as I understand it, when mine were ordered from Symmetry in the UK, you got to pick the colour. I dont think that the black ones are super rare or anything, its just that they are newer than the brown and so there are less of them about.

According to SimplyStax, they are pretty rare; they only receive like 3 units per year from Stax, and they're the only one in the UK that gets them. (They could be lying/misinformed, just stating what they said). I know Yama's Inc. can order them, though, since they do have them on their website. If that helps you for the US. I think the cheapest dealer with a US warranty is TTVJ, though, at 2200. I definitely think they look much better than the brown, but I do wish they had silver cup styling instead of the same champaigne that goes with the brown.

Thank you!! I knew there was a US dealer that had them for right around $1800.

At this price even if I can't get the black pads I'm happy.

Nope.

Looks like elusivedisc.com is at $1850. Full USA warranty.

I decided against the Omega 2. The HD650 makes a good substitute for my uses.

I also own a HD650 but for me it is nor altenative to an Omega.

But the main question is:

Does Your answer mean, that You didn't find a dealer with a silver/black Omega II ?

On the STAX side there is the BL-Version listed

J-Pak,

Via my Swiss dealer, I just ordered a black "set" (meaning black 007T-2 driver) and I got the O2 with black leather pads.
I was a bit surprised, as my previous model was indeed brown

I wasn't aware, that here should be any questions of "black being rare" or such

No; why? Is the Omega two that------much head and shoulders above its peers? Interested in hearing your thoughts on this one, as you own two phones in particular that are considered to me to be of pretty good sonic quality.

It might depend on the music You hear, but imho You Can't compare a HD650 with an Omega II. For me it's a huge difference.

You also wouldn't compare a VW with a Mercedes S-Class. The first might be not bad but it's not the same league.

P.S.
Just take a look at my profile than You can see my Headphones + Amps

No doubt the Omega 2 is better than the HD650. But the K1000 is my main headphone, and the HD650 is a good compliment.

I didn't have any luck finding a black pair in the US, so I was going to buy a brown pair. I still might in a few years once I'm bored with the HD650 (I just got it a few weeks ago).

I see from your profile you have an SR-404. I used to have one, which is why I was so interested in the Omega 2. To me the jump in performance from SR-404 to Omega 2 was huge. Not so much HD650 to Omega 2 since the 2 share a similar signature.

One additional information:

The Omega II in B/L have black earpads + cord but the outer finish seems to be champagne too. It looks like silver on the photo on the Stax-Website but in reality it's champagne.

So an alternative might be to change the pads and the cable of the Omega II
