The ER4P might work fine for you depending on the source/amp. Bass boost is nice. Which tips you use will also be a factor. IMO.

I can enjoy the ER4P with pretty much any genre but tweaking with a good EQ is nice(like Rockbox) or using an amp with bass boost. My XM5 with 6dB boost @ 100 Hz. does wonders.

Might as well go with the S if you need an amp, no?

Some people actually prefer the "P" instead. I tend to change my preference...which is easy to do with the +75 Ohm switch on my XM5 w/ ER4P.

I like to recommend the ER4P so the user has both options.

Bass is so ridiculously overrated. I'll tell you that the ER4p makes a good rock/metal IEM, it's one of the fastest IEMs out there. I would in fact argue that they make better rock/metal IEMs than classical IEMs, I find the lack of soundstage to be irritating, especially compared to the SA6 I used to own.

Yes indeed the 4p sound fantastic with rock and metal and imo they do not need an amp at all.
I have no idea why some say bass is lacking and needs to be boosted, even from a low power dap the bass is perfect.
There are iem's that are different but there isn't anything "better".
