Hi All,

I'm still undecided whether to buy a 5.5g Imod.

I've a 1st gen Nano Rockboxed with Flac -> Tomahawk -> Triple.fi & E530.

My rig rocks with very high settings (Software Eq & Crossfeed). I play mostly R&B(80%) and HipHop (20%).

Can someone convince me that an Imod will sound much better than my current rig?

I wish there is somewhere in UK where I can listen to an Imod b/4 I buy.

If you will spend a bit more time searching in this forum, you will find the answers you seek.

iMod 4G, 5G and 5.5G has eclipsed ALL known DAP in the SQ department. People actually stopped comparing iMod with other DAPs, instead the focus right now is how good iMod is compared to venerable CDPs. That's quite high a Benchmark - almost unrealistic

Well back to your question, yes an iMod will blow your current rig out of contention. I have treaded the DAP rig path for quite some time now and with what I have now, I could not see any way further that I could go in DAP perspective. Unless of course if my pocket is deep enuff to fund an iRiver H140 + MicroDAC + Amp (which is another hellishly good DAP combo)

A properly set iMod rig with the right amp and cans (+Lossless file and minimal or NO EQ) will not fail to entertain even the most demanding listener.

although I dont own one myself, I dare say that with the current rig you have now (a fairly good one), you may not notice as big of a difference as you might expect for the money it will cost you. I'm just repeating what a fellow head-fier with a 5.5 g 80gb imod told me.
