Hello
I broke my $40 sonys a few days ago and I've been thinking about buying some nice IEMs for sometime now. Ive decided on the etymotic er6i I beilive, for my price range it was only the Shure 2c to choose from and those looked too bulky. My question is how to the etymotic er6i cord lay? Im a big fan of running cords behind my back. How do you guys wear your etymotic er6i? Also i noticed the case is week, i beilive i saw you can purchase the shure case for 14$ on amazon. Is there anyother better cases than that? thanks!

I wear mine ala Shure: wrapped around my ear. It reduces microphonics and when the cords gets a tug, it pulls on my earlobe, not my ear canal.

I use an altoid sour tin to store mine in. Cheap, fun to earn by doing all the eating, and very durable.

It's built with the idea you'll wear the cord in front, but the design actually lends itself very well to being worn with the cord over the ears and down the back, and that's how I normally wear it. If you take the shirt clip off the cord and then reattach it above the Y-junction, you can slide it up to cinch the cables together the way the Shure sleeve does.

The ER-6i is so small and has so little to damage that I don't worry at all about the softness of the included case, and my ER-6i's have never been damaged. But if you want a stronger case, I don't know of one that's sturdier than the Shure case, until you get up to the much larger Pelican cases.

Awesome I just bought the black pair off amazon. Got overnight shipping and the total was $99.00. Im happy with my decision and I hope i enjoy the etymotic as much as other people have. I cant wait for the isolation, I work in the same room as a press machine and also use loud machinery myself.

With luck the stock ER-6i fit kit (which is fairly extensive) will work well for you, but for more extreme isolation you may wish to invest in Shure black foams or in Comply tips.
