Just something I've gotten a bit curious about. I usually just leave my Beyerdynamics on my desk or loose in my backpack if I take them somewhere with me. Usually they stay at home, so I'm not really considering a travel case, but I am thinking about a wall mount.

How do you store your headphones?

I just hang my headphones on a banana stand on my desk.
If I bring them out (like going to a meet), I use a camera backpack with padded compartments for the laptop and dividers in the cam compartment to separate the headphone from the other gear. Or I use a Timbuk2 Messenger with a large camera insert inside and arrange the compartment dividers to protect the headphone, amp, and camera.

I am just like you with the difference I actually take them on the go. For reference i take both the mdr v6 and 7506. these guys like most people know dont have a detachable cable so I usually lay them on a soft surface or on a chair always making sure the cable is straight until around the coil.
A headphone stand is fancy but as long as they are kept functional im not so concerned. I have wondered tho if the pads get damaged from laying them down without a headstand.

If your headphones don't fold scratching the earcups on the table is a lot more likely. I have a stand but I also have a spare mousepad to set them down on.
If they fold, set them cup side down on a mouse pad.
