When I have posted pictures in the past I have always used the posting forum and it limit pictures to very small sizes. I always see much larger pictures posted. Are these being posted via external hosting or some other way?

External hosts usually. Try Photobucket or Imageshack

if you use firefox try an addon called image bot, its good for this stuff, u dont even have to type in a web address after using it

Upload the picture on an external host, then link/embed it in your post.

I use imagevenue,you can upload 10 large pics at once.Super easy to use.
