Hi All,

My Imod 5.5 80gb will be arriving in a couple of days. I've about 35gb of music all Flac. Some are singles and the rest album, but want to know how you arrange your music on the Imod.

Thanks

I create a top-level folder named Music, then put each artist in their own folder under that, even if I have a single song by an artist. If you have tags in the files, the Rockbox database will let you search by artist, genre, etc. or you can browse the files directly.

Well, I don't have an iMod, but since it'd be the same if I did, I just manually organise all my files like this:

c:\music\<artist>\(year) <album>\##.<track title>

I don't have any music files that aren't part of full albums though, since that's a waste of time in my opinion.

^same, I tag by genre/artist/album also.
I always preferred straight browsing the HDD for files to file tagging, and I found this to be the most similar when tags became mandatory.

Music\A-C\<artist>\<album>\## <tracktitle>
- D-F\<artist>\<album>\## <tracktitle>

etc.

Personally I'm an explorer junkie. I just make a directory called FLAC-Studio, another called FLAC-Live and yet another called MP3. I've spent countless hours tagging and prettying up my filenames and directory names for my collection. My directory naming scheme is BandName-Year-Album_Title-FORMAT. I like my collection in Alphabetical and Chronological order. So I just drag and drop whatever falls into those 3 categories and then use file mode and filter only music files on Rockbox. I never use the database. But this was one my old iRiver H120/H140/H380. I have yet to rockbox my 80gb iPod.
