I've been wondering how the members of this board listen to their music? For example, where do you usually listen to your favourite tunes? At what time of the day? What do were you doing at the time?

For me, I like to listen to music late at night (10:00pm to 5:00am

) when everything around me has claimed down and when I am settled. I usually listen to my music when I am on my computer check out this site. However, the most enjoyable time for me is when I am all relaxed laying in my bed with my lights off and just close my eyes and just get drifted away with the music.

I listen to music 24/7.

Right now I'm listening to music from in front of the computer. (headphones)
*current song - Richard Clayderman: crossover of Fur Elise by Beethoven.

But I enjoy it the most at night just before I go to bed, sitting on a chair reading a book or drawing in my room. (speakers)
I seriously leave music playing in my room day and night.

Funny you asked that, i was just wondering the same thing. I prefer to listen to music lying down on my bed with the 25S and cmoy, no distractions=pure bliss!

Woke up,
fell out of bed,
turned the amp on next to my head...
(had to take the headphones off momentarily to put my undershirt on, otherwise -- it stays on until I'm ready to leave).

Listen to more tunes in the car on the way too work. I can usually listen to a whole CD on a one-way leg of the trip.

Listen on headphones at work, pretty much 7/8 hours of the day (or 8/9, 9/10...11/12 as it's been lately).

Listen to another CD on the way home from work.

Listen to more tunes while being here, there, etc. online.

Sometimes even leave it playing while I go to sleep.

But the last time I did that, I burned out some really nice NOS Jan/Phillips EL84's. :-(

Well, it was my own fault -- I had recently moved in, and hadn't biased the amp. Probably was running them too hot.

I get the impression that most of the regular posters listen to music for many many hours a day. It's a rare day when I listen longer than 2 hours per day, and some days I don't listen at all. Since I've purchased better equipment and have learned new listening techniques, I imagine I'll listen a bit more often, but my limiting factor is my attention span. I can't listen to music and do anything else. With t.v., I can do a million things and switch my attention between the t.v. and whatever it is I'm doing. But with music and especially with reading, I have to do them alone in combination with nothing, or I'm just wasting my time.

I can't listen to music when I'm reading for fun. It makes studying less effective, but I can keep it up longer when I listen, so I receive a net benefit. It greatly aids my online gaming (Starcraft goes so much better with some pounding trance or dnb).

I listen to a few tracks first thing when I wake up in the morning (this morning it was Enya). I can't listen to music in class or at work. I used to, between classes, but I kept breaking my EX70s so I gave up. Anyway, I almost got hit by cars a few times, so it was too dangerous.

When I get home, the first thing I do is jack in for an hour or so. Then I take a break, eat something, read, or watch TV. Then, around 9 pm, I start listening again, and keep it up until I go to sleep (3-4 am lately).

I listen anywhere from an hour to eight or more in a day.

I HAVE to listen to music or put on a film (through speakers) when I am drawing (technical drawings mainly), it gives me ideas in design more then when the air is silent. But when I am reading, no music because it's distracting and I actually just skim the words rather then reading them.

I listen late night...between 12 midnight to 1 AM. I usually don't do music during the day, I find it distracting as my mind starts to concentrate on the music instead what I'm doing at the moment.

I listen to music whenever I feel emotionally drained.....Trane charges me up - after a "recharge" - I can listen to whatever.

No music anytime before 2 pm (school), and basically my activities and homework govern my listening time afterwards....

Oh ya - I can't listen too late because of my damned 6:45 school bus.

Listen to lots of music throughout the day.

Get and go towork on the bus. The jorney is around an hour in total so I always take my MZ-R900 with me where ever I go. I'm usually listening to some country-rock (Eagles / Burrito's / Gram Parsosn) or female sing-songwriter stuff (Shawn Colvin / Lucy Kaplansky). Never anything too full-on as I just can't take it at that time in the morning.

At lunchtime I usually listen for 30-45 minutes depending on what i'm doing.

On the Journey home I usually listen again for 30-40 minutes.

After Tea, I go upto my entertainment room and usually listen for at least 2-3 hours on my system with the big amps and speakers on. After 10.30 if i'm still in the mood for listening then i'll turn the amps off (aren't I kind to my neighbours - who are complete ****'s by the way) and put on either my Stax, HD580 or the DT531's depending on my mood or which way the wind's blowing :-)

At weekends the system hardly gets turned off from Friday to Sunday evening. Here in the UK we have the wonderfull BBC
wink.gif
Every Saturday at 7 they have either a live concert or a really good documentary on a particular artist that I listen to religiously. Later on in the Evening 'Whispering' Bob Harris has a show from 10 through till 1 showcasing the some of the best music around. Usually indie stuff from thre States including people like Lucy Kaplansky, Trish Murphy, Whiskeytown, Eric Bibb, Eva Cassidy and all the good stuff you have over there that we don't get much chance to listen too.

This evening as an example, myself and my father listened to:
Jackson Browne - Running On Empty (On Vinyl LP)
Tracy Byrd - Love Lessons
Sara Evans - No Place That Far
The Cox Family - Just When We're Thinkin' It's Over
Alison Krauss - New Favourite
George Jones - The Essential

A real feast of good country music. The Cox Family was particularly excellent and can heartily recommend it for anybody with an interest in Bluegrass.

Anyway, i'm off to bed as it's gone 11pm here. I'm off to listen to some Gene Clarke (ex-Byrds) stuff on my HD470's

Sound as ever
