I've read some tips on how to do this here before but I wanted to be sure.

Does hydrogen peroxide work? (as a disinfectant)

I use the yellow Shure foam tips. I have 8 more new pairs but I'd like to clean them until they get really unusable before breaking out a new pair.

thanks

I toss them into rubbing alcohol for a few minutes, give them a good rub and dry them out. Works great for me, and retains most of the springyness!

I put warm water with soft soap in a cup, then I drop the foamies and work them for a couple of minutes. Then I let them sit overnight in clean warm water. Next day I re-rinse and allow to air dry. Do not squeeze to hard (Oops! that is what she said

AH yes, the springyness was my main concern

I was thinking that alcohol might be too strong for them.

I guess I just need to experiment...I suppose boiling could work too...with a pinch of salt and...

The thing is, I try to only touch them(to do the roll/squish thing) with clean fingers but they slowly get dirty...my biggest reason for wanting to clean them is to kill bacteria...I don't want an ear infection.

I use dish detergent, and warm water. I roll them between my fingers a fair bit which helps losen the small ammount of wax coating the foam. I then let them soak in the water for an hour or so.

I then replace that water with two lots of warm water, and run them between my fingers a fair bit again.

I have noticed little increase in stiffness.
