How do the PortaPro's look on your head?

I've looking at the Koss PortaPro's:
http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-ma...s-portapro.php

I got the ksc75's, but I'm annoyed at how they dangle off my ears. When I hold them onto my ears, not to tightly, they sound a little better. So I was thinking of getting the PortaPro's...but the headphone picture makes them look like I'll look like an idot wearing them, which isn't really something I want to look like in public. So do they look ok? Anyone know of any pictures of someone actually wearing them?

You absolutely will, I'm afraid.

If appearance is a big concern, you'd probably be best looking at something else.

the more moronic you look the better it sounds... hate to break it to you but thats just how it is.

My sportas look terrible, they sit really funky on my head and stick out too much. They are secure and sound great though.

KSC75 is about as nice looking as I get.

you missed out. i had 8 brand new pairs i just sold on ebay for $36 shipped.

i think they look fine. most people don't look at others and think, "haha, he looks like a retard with those headphones." at most they'll be like, "hmm...those are odd."

Portapros look much sillier for themselves than being worn IMHO. Having both KSC75 and Portapro, I really prefer the KSCs. Sound is better, soundstage is better, look is lightyears better.

If you look for alternatives for the KSC, try the PX100. I like it better than the boomy & muddy Portapro, and the look speaks for itself.

Best solution: Keep the KSCs and stand the pain.

I dont know how I missed this.... but, you know, the KSC75 earhooks are soft metal and can be bent for a custom fit. I would try that before switching to a porta.

They are the first over the head headphones I've worn in public, too. Most of the comments I get about them are positive, and the rest are along the lines of: "those are strange headphones". You won't have the same stick-out problem with the PortaPros IMO,and I never realzied how much the KSC75s stick out untill I saw someone walking through Times Square yeturday wearing them.

P.S. If you are concerned about looking good with headphones, then I would look at Audio-technica cans at www.audiocubes.com. They look better then most headphones, and are pretty decent too.

I ordered the PortaPro 2's without having seen them in person. They are not as incredibly dorky as the online pictures led me to believe. Still a little weird looking, but significantly smaller and lower profile than I had feared -- and they sound good for just under $20. But then, I'm older than most Head-Fi posters, and I'm not as concerned about stylin' in front of my peer group (and all of my "on the go" listening is to IEMs or canal phones, anyway).

For subtle looks, but at a higher price, consider the Sennheiser 100's.

Not being concerned about the looks, how are they for comfort?

I've thought about the porta-pros in the past, and now need
new (inexpensive (relative to head-fi)) phones for use at my computer
and at the gym.

Reading the description about resting on your ears, and side of your head to
create a secure feel, makes me wonder if these are going to be an uncomfortable vice grip.

any thoughts?

p.s. sorry for the minor thread hi-jack

I would get the Portapro2's. They have the same drivers as the regular Portapro's.

Plus, you can switch between KSC75 drivers to, as they just snap on to the Portapro frame!

I'm more used to IEMs and canal phones, and had wondered how these would feel. I have a larger than average hat size, and I was pleased to discover that I don't get a vice-like effect from the PortaPro's. Maybe it's because they're so light ... gentle contact from the foam pads on the ears and on the side of the head. Also, the metal band seems fairly sturdy, for what it is, but -- and this is important -- the PortaPro's are not bulky or painful like some "real" headphones can be.

I haven't used these yet while exercising, though. If anything, I would wonder whether they are tight enough for wearing at the gym.

They make the top of ears bend outwards. They make me look like a demented elf.
