I'm not sure entirely how to store my W100's.

For a while I've kept my Grados on my desk and they're pretty much okay. My W100s are another story, though, and I'd like to keep them in shiny new condition.

I don't really have a headphone 'stand' available, but I'm sure I could find something...

Would it be preferable to use something like a glass head (so the phones will be, ahem, 'mounted' - but then the pads might compress and I'd rather not have that) or to hang them by the wire-things that are above the head pads? (I don't know how else to describe it...)

Information would be appreciated! I'd like to keep these things in as good shape as possible.

I am having the exact same 'problem' with my W1000. I cannot figure out a good way to store them. Right now they just sit on my desk during the day, then I put them back on the cheap plastic molding from the box that they came in at night. I would just leave them sitting on the desk all the time, but I see that the pads are constantly in contact with each other at the bottom, and I fear compression. At least in the plastic molding the pads don't touch.

Is there any good way to store these headphones? Is storing them in the plastic molding a good idea? I doubt that a glass head would be any better than the molding because the pads would probably compress; plus, my local Pier 1 doesn't carry glass heads as far as I can tell.

Totally, same thing here. I think I'm going to start using the molding so the bottom of the pads aren't forever smashed in.

My mother suggested a nice cloth bag, which might protect the drivers, but it wouldn't stop the thing with the pads from happening...

A peg in the wall? Or something similar to a hat stand?

That's an idea, but I'm afraid of putting too much stress on the wire-things that they have in lieu of a headband. The wooden enclosures are pretty heavy.

dang, you'd figure for a set of cans that expensive they'd give some nice thing to put them in. i mean how much extra would it be for a custom cut piece of foam, soft velvet covering, and a reinforced box..? maybe you could find some extra foam leftover from Xmas packing and fashion something yourself

Something T shaped, but the top of the T is curved? Like a curve witha stick coming out the bottom. That imitates the curve of your head but doesn't touch the pads. If you could get maybe.. some sheet aluminium, cut and bend, then bolt it onto a broomstick, which has been conveniently cut to size, then stuck into another piece of wood for support.. If you're worried about scratching the 'phone, you could cover it with foam before bolting it on.

Hanging them from the top wouldn't keep the pads from pressing together at the bottom. So far, I have just set mine down on the equipment shelf, but I've had the same concern about the pads.

Now I'm curious about this...guess I'll see if I can figure something out that might work for all of us. Hmmm...

Use some more imagination...

Now, take your monitor. Rotate it to the right, 90 degrees.

remove the .'s, and insert a pair of headphones. Smoothen the top bit a bit more, and there you have it.
