Welllllll it's miles better though my FiiO Q5s is still lighting up blue which probably means windows 10 is using the lowest possible USB codec.
When I use my Sony Walkman NW-ZX507 as a source and use USB-C into my FiiO Q5s the FiiO lights up a nice gold detecting Aptx HD.
So how do I get my laptop to play in Aptx HD?

It would have to support aptxhd first and foremost.
Otherwise. Use a phone... Those typically support those files.
You can also push to q5 via dlna
