How do I change my user name?

Quite sure you have to ask a administrator.
At least I have never seem an option for the member to do it themselves.

Yep, you can't change your username. You have to bribe the administrator. The sillier the reason, the larger the bribe need to be

idunno... I'm rather proud of my modest post-count now. Wouldn't want to part with it. Speaking of silliness, how much of a bribe would it take to capitolize the second letter of my username?

If you get married to another Head-Fi'er (must be legal in your state), then we'll allow you to hyphenate your name. Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with it. You can't even blame your parents for giving you such a dumb name (not that I think your name is dumb but I'm guessing that maybe you do and thus the question) because you were the one who signed the birth certificate when you registered.

All kidding aside, Jude does (on rare occasion and only when an extremely good case is presented to him) allow a member to change his/her username but as I understand it there are a number of factors that militate against this. If we allowed people to change their usernames after they've become established members, this sort of thing could possibly be used to deceive other members.

Once you start to build up a post count, you begin to have a bit of an 'identity' to other members and if your username changes, that identity is lost to them. Anyone who has used the buy/sell/trade forums will have an old feedback thread that can no longer be associated with the new username. Same goes for anyone who has made any controversial or argumentative posts; people ought not to be allowed to disappear under a witness protection program unless there is a good reason for it.

Maybe we can add some language to our registration page that says:

"You can only sign up for one account; once you've picked your username you're stuck with it forever, so choose wisely."

Hmm... that's pretty neat. Would I have to get her to agree to the change too, or can I get mine changed without her consent?

I'd want several hyphens though.
