How difficult is it to mod the volume pot of a commercial integrated NAD amp?

Hi,

I was just wondering how difficult it would be to replace the stock volume pot on my NAD integrated amp with a stepped attenuator. Or am I better off just buying an excellent preamp with a stepped attenuator?

Depends on the features of the volume pot and how much space you have to work in.

Typically you'll find that there is absolutely nowhere on the front panel to fit something as huge as a stepped attenuator. There will be a circuit board or a heatsink in the way.
