how deep and spacious are the cups on the denon ah-d2000? how isolating are they?

They fit really nice and smooth, fairly light, they're quite deep but not too much, they don't isolate very well but don't let any sounds come out. They're the most comfortable cans I've ever worn besides the Sony MDR-10.

They are VERY comfy, but the cups ar not at all as deep as senn 650 or 595, the driver is placed closer to the ear.
They isolates very bad, I have been wondering a long how it come that such a closed can can let so much sound out and in, I guess it is a open ring around the cups that do it. Are the really closed then?? I don't know, maybe semi closed.

I have a good answer to the isolation question.

I work on a military base and we had an exercise this week which meant we all had to report to a certain area so I grabbed my D2000s and portable unit. With 35 people in a roughly 18x30 conference room I could cover the chatter without turning up the volume very loud so that gives you an idea of the incoming isolation.

Then they started a movie (Aeon Flux) and I couldn't see the screen from where I was sitting so I just turned up the volume to cover the sound system and closed my eyes. A few minutes later a woman tapped me on the knee and asked me to turn my music down because she could hear it over the movie.

I had my Micro Amp on high gain (to save batteries) dialed up to about 10:00 (it was as loud as I've ever had it) and enough sound leaked from the Denons to hear over crappy conference room sound speakers from 4 feet away so that gives you an idea of the outgoing isolation.

At normal volume the D2000s can cover 4 women jabbering in my office with no complaints from anyone hearing the music, but if you really crank them up there is some leakage.

As for comfort I've never worn any headphones as comfortable. The cups are deep enough that the drivers don't touch my ears, and wide enough they don't crowd my ears anywhere and I have larger than normal ears.

Not very deep and not very isolating.  I do have the Jmoney pads which are very deep, but there isn't any isolation with those either.  D2000's are closed headphones, but leak sound like open back headphones.  Maybe that's why they have better soundstage than most closed headphones.
