I am charging the 9WM gumsticks that included with the D777. It stopped charging after a hour. But then I pressed the charge button again and it charged for another 20min-ish until it stopped... Should I keep doing that until it has been charged for 8 hours or just stop now? Thanks.

Just stop now. Play your D777 to discharge the battery fully, and then re-charge the batteries again. Most NiMH rechargeable batteries are shipped partially charged.

so far as I know the D777 knows when the batteries are fully charged (if you press charge after they've had a full charge, you'll see the light blink twice, and then shut off) - I'd hazard a guess that it'd be okay to double charge once, but I wouldn't personally make a habit out of it as it would shorten the battery life

Haha... So the shop instructed me to ***** up the battery(they told me to do so), it could be their bad since if the battery screwed up they had to gimme 14WMs for free

Did you run it until it was completely flat? - if so how long did it last (bearing in mind that if you use ESP that that uses twice as much battery bower as without it)

Thanks

It had been running it for two hours until it was completely flat...

Without looking at the instruction manual I can't remember exactly, but iirc the total time before charge should be between 3-4 hours... try charging a couple more times... seeming if the usable time settles down... if not, then I think you'll have a valid reason for getting those 14WMs...

I have just taken a look at the Japanese manual of my 777, it says that with the gumstick battery the battery should last for 5 hours without ESP... Is that true? If so, my gumstick is fine since this time the 777 has been playing for about 3 hours since its last charge...

That does sound about right to me...

I guess that it has to be remembered that if this player is NOS / NIB that the batteries will have been sitting idle for the best part of eight years... I daresay that they needed some encouragement to wake up

Either way... glad that they're holding out for you now... and am also glad that you're liking the D777

...Enjoy
