I have been into electronics since before I can remember, but still, to this day, staggers me on how much music a person can carry around in their pocket.

I thought it would be fun to list your current iPod/media player stats. By stats I mean number of artists, albums, genres, and tracks on your current setup. Be sure to specify which media player you are using. If you have more than one player be sure to list them all.

Here is mine:

IPod 4G 60GB Photo
Total number of tracks:4391
Total number of Artists: 140
Total number of Albums: 383
Total number of Genres: 74

The majority (90%) of the files are mp3 high quality VBR. The rest are 320-192kbs I don't have anything under 160kbs on my iPod.

Let's see my iTunes Library:

Space: 60.06 gig
Songs: 4006
Artists: 156
Albums: 392
Genres: 0 (I hate the genres given by iTunes because not only are they usually misrepresent the song, but it is very hard to quanitfy and accurately describe anything with one word, especially something as full with detail as music.)
Encoding:Losslees on every CD I ripped; 320 kbps AAC on everything my friends ripped; 256 and less MP3/AAC for anything my friend's either stole from other friends or downloaded. As you can see I keep my friends in shape with the 320 AAC, but can't control everyone.
Source: Dell Desktop or Powerbook G4 (Shared iTunes Library).
Equipment: Grado HF-1s; Etymotics ER-4S ...... Laptop speakers if i'm too lazy to get my cans, which doesn't happen often due to the rapid irritation of my ear canals.
Ohh.. almost forgot
Time: 13 days 12 hours 54 minutes and 12 seconds. And thats how long I will be burning my HF-1s in for.

4G 20 Gig iPod:

Room: 18.3 G
Songs: 2438
Artists: 172
Albums: 317
Genres: 1 (This one album got in before having its genre ellllimmmmmminateddd. Its Funk Jazz if anyone wanted to know.)
Encoding: 320 AAC for my stuff and close friends stuff and will you know what happens as I move away.
Source: Headphone Jack which is soon to be a PocketDock
Equipment: Grado HF-1s; Etymotic ER-4S

If anyone wants the artist list too just say so.

5 GB Zen Micro

Total Space: 4749 MB
Free Space: 416 MB
Track Count: 745
Album Count: 63
Playlist Count 13

All of the CDs I've ripped are at 320kb/s max VBR, ripped with LAME. Everything else is mostly mp3 with a few wma files, mostly above 128kb/s but a few are under that. Don't listen to those ones much.

Glad I saw your post, you make a lot of sense. We may not want to think about it but Big Brother is indeed watching, and with the internet = no privacy.

my archos av-3100 has my whole music collection on it.

at last count, it was about 7000tracks, occupiying about 60gb of an available 95 (or so) it is more than it should be because many of them are clasical music recordings, which for some reason or another are 15miniutes long.

it also houses a small collection of various videos, and photos.

Not everyone's music is pirated. We will assume that all music listed hear comes from legit sources.

I think my iPod shuffle (1Gb) has something like 233 tracks and about 15 mb left. There might be a few mp3's, but most are 128kbps AAC files.

I'm not even going to list my iTunes library because it's embarrassingly small.

Yeah, that warning seems to imply a lot more than the stats.

iTunes:
9842 tracks
342 artists
746 albums
82.5 days
124.85 GB

iPod:
1936 tracks
25.9 GB

Hey man Im just backing up their music at an alternative location than their home in case of fires of hard drive failures. My friend's whole collection of MP3s of one artists dissapeared last week. He said it was easier to take them off of my iPod since thats where I got them than to re-rip it all. So, I'm just providing a free service to society. Now, if anyone else who thinks they are a politician can top that.....

I don't think i'm a politican. I wasn't inferring piracy either... yet
why allow someone to make assumptions? Any organization using data mining techniques doesn't need to think in order to relate you to a topic. It just happens... Yet, if you like being associated with the matter, then all means...

Tell us how much ripped music you have and publish it to the world.

edit in:
Call me paranoid, yet i just was looking out for you guys and nothing more. It's a bit scary when you find out how un-private these posts are.

Only 12/20 MB filled, but 32 albums + 5 orchestral pieces, 6 if you count the one I have two renditions of.

In the other forum was a poll for the longest track and someone mentioned how hard it is to beat the classical listeners. In this thread you got us beat bad.

flac is also fattening.
