You have the Joe Grado Sound and the John Grado Sound, even though they are both grado they really are completely different. HP-2 is the epitome of the Joe Grado sound - neutral, linear, transparent, very balanced, cohesive sound. Many feel the PS-1 is the epitome of the the John Grado Sound - very dynamic, more upfront on the stage feel than Joe's sound.

Is that all?
Actually, the drivers look similar on pictures so I appreciate your info on them being different. That clears things up along with the other info you presented.
Thanks,

The PS-1’s are fun (colored) like the RS-1’s and have tight controlled bass that will make your eyes bleed.

The HP1000’s are neutral to the point of being boring.

They're both made by Grado

That's it.

Bass is awesome on both, though PS-1's go deeper and have what sounds like a more realistic decay but the HP-1's have more attack by a large margin. This might be perceived as more because the decay is less so the entire note just seems to be really hard and tight. I love HP-1000 bass I think it is its best feature. I want the attack of the HP-1's with the power and decay of the PS-1's.

The HP-1000 is neutral. Though I think they're sublime, not boring. Matter of taste, of course, but a lot of us love them.

The PS1's to me are a 325 magnified in every single way. If you like punch - these are your gods.

The HP's are the kind of grados I really like. Smooth, linear respose across the whole spetrum and much more soundstage than a standard john grado. If you like AKG's, you would likely really like the HP's.

Though both IMO are way too overpriced now.
