How are Denon CD players?

My experience with their universal players (CD/DVD/SACD) has been excellent. Very good quality and performance for the money.

I haven't heard one personally, but my dad (audiophile) absolutely loves them.

I bought a refurb Denon DCM-380 5 disc CD changer for $120 shipped @ Ecost a couple of years ago. Other than some slight scuffs on the top of the unit it looked like new. The HDCD capabilities, soundstaging, and the level of detail in this unit is very good. The 380 uses Burr-Brown PCM1748 24/96 DAC. The build quality (China) is good other than the plastic front and tray which can be noisy. They still retail @ $300 in a lot of stores, but @ $120 I think it was quite a bargain at the time.

I also have the Denon DVD-2200 universal player. Everything about this unit is outstanding, and it's a great value if you can still find one. DVD video quality is stunning, and the SACD bass management is stellar.

Denon DVD-2200 vs. Denon DVD-2900: Is the 2900 worth + $400 more?

I am seriously considering the Denon 3910. Based on the reviews, it's an excellent CD player. So I am considering it as my top candidate. I've seen it on sale for around $1000 and it is considered to be a good value for that money from what I've read.

I have an older Denon CD player and I love it. The only problem is that it doesn't play anything in the time before the track begins. Certain albums put crucial bits of talking and music in the track spacers -- the Denon leaves them blank. It's a DCM 260. I can only assume this is fixed in the newer CD players.

I have and regularly use a 20+ year old Denon CD player. It is model DCD1100 and it still works like a charms. Personally I think it sounds pretty good and gave a good running against my NAD C542. Soon I should receive a new Arcam DiVA CD73, we will see.

...and when she didn't need it anymore, I only got rid of it because it was a multi-disc player. It sounded good. BTW, Denon cassette decks were/are excellent, too.

So what if it's multidisc, so long as it sounds good...

I have the 3910. Without a mod it is plenty OK. With mods it can go to very good and even to the extent of being top shelf with certain very expensive mods.
