ok guys this thread is only for the questions of how and where to donate to headfi, or whatever you wanna call it

I personally:: am fighting with my bank and paypal cause someone tried to get into my account over at ebay..so my paypal and checking account is locked up. and no there is nothing i can do, just to wait it out.

so there are a few upcoming meets, and I firgured maybe Jude or another mod from detroit would be there...so I can just slap them some cash and the deed is done.

I know its unprofressional but its my only option now.

?
thank you all and sorry for the p.m.'s but i really want to give

Hi All...

Please be advised that this thread is for constructive (criticism?) posts only. All posts that appear not to be either of those will highly likely be deleted without prior warning...

There are 352 posts up to now in this thread of which, ultimately 80% are off topic...

Please everyone, lets keep the second incarnation of this thread civil

Thanks all!

I belive that Jude is planning on setting up a new system that would allow credit cards to be use for those who would rather not use the troublesome paypal. He is also working on changing the current troublesome icon format to a more fair and balanced version.

These changes have not happen just yet, but they will soon enough. He is a very busy guy witha full time job with crazy hours, a newborn baby, and running this site.

So just hang on there

it probably wouldn't hurt to take some of the info from the closed thread about the current costs that need to be met to keep head-fi up and running so people understand better why contributions are being requested.

If I shut this site down today, we still have to pay approximately $9600.00 over the next 11 months just for the cabinet at Level(3). Add to that the approximately $6000.00 in servers, additional memory, and accessories we just bought. This is if I shut the site down now. If I keep it running, the bandwidth will likely approximately double the total hosting costs.

This site is not run out of a garage. It is not run on a business DSL line. It is not run on a cable modem. This is a website that generates at least as much total traffic as Audio Asylum. Any long-time members there know how much effort and expense the people who run it put in at that site to keep it going -- and they have far more commercial support than we do, and a much larger contributing member base because they've been accepting contributing memberships for years.

Maybe he is just getting a little tired of having to listen to all this BS about the voluntary payment system. Give the guy a break! Comments like yours probably don't help matters any, and I am sure that he, as well as eveyone else here, would be greatful for anything that you could donate.

Go back and re-read that post and think about it. My post wasn't a flame, just an observation.

bhd...

There is no need to close this thread quite yet... it hasn't gone off of the rails quite yet...

I'll be happy to (or obviously, any other moderator can) delete the various slightly OT posts here... and then the thread can go on as a more accurate source of information than the other one that turned into anarchy...

Although, it IS your own thread... so I guess that if you really want it banished to the dark zone... that is your perogative...

Seemingly there are lots of people a little hot under the collar, just need to give everyone a little time to simmer down, and all will be good again

Okay, let's get this thread back on topic.

Jude is momentarily sifting through a few hundred PMs from people that's he's gotten in just a few days. So for one, if you want to donate but can't do it by PayPal, please have patience until he sets up the credit card system. It's great that you'd rather give than buy another toy, but you're going to have to be a bit more patient.

There's no reason to get up tight or bicker back and forth about this. Jude would love to get your contribution if you allow him the time to set things up properly.

Signed,
Jude's Official Guinea Pig

edit: and if there's one specific way you can do it, you can give the money to someone trustworthy on Head-Fi when you go to the Chicago meet and have them PayPal *on your behalf* in case there isn't anyone else there to collect it. That way Jude gets the contribution in your name despite the problems you're having. Sound reasonable?
