On my profile, it says: Thanks for Joining!

What's next is up to you, but here are some great options for getting started:
Add items to Your List - tell us what you own and/or want, and we'll point you to some fellow users who you might find interesting
Fill in your Head-Fi community profile questions - just click "Edit Community Profile" above to see the options
Check out the forums - ask a question, introduce yourself, debate an issue, or maybe provide guidance to other users
Replace your picture (left) with an image of your choosing

The problem is, it's NOT up to me! I'm apparently NOT ALLOWED TO DO ANY OF THE SUGGESTED "OPTIONS" FOR GETTING STARTED! This is the first place where starting a new thread to ask questions was even possible..

What is going on? I've been reading headfi for some time now, but it's apparently impossible to actually join the community. Is headfi full, not accepting anyone new? Because they seem to feel that anyone not already here can't possibly have anything useful to contribute. I've never seen a more inaccessible, frustrating so-called "community!"

Disregarding the unhelpful list above, and the "tutorials" that aren't any more accurate than that was, so effectively there isn't even any [accurate] information on how to get started!

Seriously, if I didn't feel so passionately about audio stuff, I would have given up LONG ago. Ugh.

You have to be a member for a period of time and have a specific number of posts in order to be able to edit things. I believe it is either 15 posts and being a member for a week and 5 posts. I might be wrong though so don't quote me on that.

Thanks for the info! But the fact that what you just explained isn't publicly available information is just another facet of my complaint! They should say that right up front, instead the only accessible info is suggesting I do stuff I'm specifically not allowed to! I've never seen, used, or heard of a website managed as stupidly as this one. Seriously, what team of idiots set this up? No reasonable, sane person could think these rules make any sense.

Unfortunately, they have a monopoly on useful headphone related sites, so why should anyone even bother doing their jobs? It's not like us users have choices. There's the unappealing, unorganized cluster***** on Redit's /audiophile, and not much else.

Hey, would anyone be willing to post something FOR me, in the appropriate place? Timeliness matters here, and I'll write it up and post in the newbie area I do have access to, so you see exactly what I have to say before deciding whether you want to.

Or does anyone have a friend who stopped actively headfi-ing, who would give or sell me their vested account? I'm not who these Trumpesque border walls were made to keep out, and I see no ethical issue doing anything possible to get around it.

Well the information is actually in the FAQ. Also I believe if you get your post approved by a mod you can post it in the correct thread.

Bro I'm not sure if you're here to rant or troll, but keeping this up isn't gonna get you anywhere.  There's rules, and it's one of the reasons HF is more organized than the Reddit. When I first joined I surely didn't have this much difficulty getting around -sure, there were things I didn't understand, rules that I didn't know, but if you're interested in getting involved in the community I'm fairly certain you can figure it out quickly enough. Also, we don't run on your schedule.  People here are more than willing to help, but the reality is that no one is obliged to answer you in a "timely" fashion. This kind of applies to a lot of forums....

You keep up with this kind of attitude your going to find little help here and most of your posts deleted. The rules are in place to stop spamming . Just relax a bit you can post in this thread and ask just about anything .

You could always, you know, post your question in the newbie thread... Considering you are in fact a newbie here. I just started a few weeks ago. I don't even know how to change my profile pic. XD
