Anyone have one of those portable DVD players with LCD screens? I have seen Mintek on sale, and Audiovox. The good brands, like Panasonic, seem very expensive. Seems like it would be cheaper to get a good Laptop with DVD drive.

Any suggestions?

What do you need a portable DVD player for?

For most users it simply makes more sense to have a DVD player in their laptop - especially for business travel when you'd need a laptop anyway.

Another factor is screen size. Most the portable DVD players have 5 or 7" screens, the larger ones (like 9") are expensive. Most laptops are about 14" now.

The only factors that weigh heavily to the favor of portable DVD players are:

1. Battery life - a portable DVD player will go for several hours longer than a Laptop Computer without a battery swap.
2. and, the ability to use it connected to a TV. This can be good if you're staying at a hotel. However, you'll be limited to a composite video connection. [/list=1]
