Man this episode was good!
It started all good and happy, but ended quite tragic and beautiful at the same time. It really kept me on the edge of my chair the whole fortyfive minutes.
Still not as good as 4.15 House's Head and 4.16 Wilson's Heart (the season four finale divided over two episodes) but man, this was stunning to say the least.
Anyone else care to share their opinion?

Got a some series recommendations that comes close to this?
It's almost four months until season six starts and I need something to fill that time up

^I'm still confused about what exactly he was and wasn't hallucinating. Did he or didn't he try to get clean? Was Cutty ever at his apartment to help him detox?

Yeah, abysmal old sentimentalist that I am, I thought the conclusion was pretty dignified but heartbreaking. I know that the writers have got a bunch of clinical psychologists onboard with the other medical types, but I hope they don't paint the 'realistic' picture of endless addiction so darkly that the last seasons are only about the relentless deterioration of a great character.

I think the writers are just taking pot shots at this point.

It was ok, S4 finale was brilliant, best two episodes I have seen on TV. This one was good, I didnt quite see the end coming, so it was a nice little twist and the last 5 minutes were directed very well. Had a very cinematic quality to it, solid camera work and great editing. Overall, thumbs up to the team for the final few scenes of the finale.

The rest of the episode was ok, nothing great, I really wasnt on the edge of my chair or completely wondering what the hell is gonna happen. I also found it a little strange that they didnt have proper closure about the patient, the last we hear of him is when Taub comes and tells house something abt the case and thats it, what happens to him next was I'm sure edited out to fit the rest of the "House" story into the 1 hour time frame. I liked the creepy re-appearance of "Cuthroat bitch" in the final scenes, although Kal Penn showing up was slightly unnecessary but in a way tying it up to answer the questions of why House was only seeing Wilsons GF and not Kutner.

NK

The season was going nowhere until he left.

He gave them somewhere to go.

Just rewatched this episode, and indeed, the patient is funny at some times, but not that interesting. To me it was all about the ending, which IMO was very good!

True, the whole no sleep/hallucination is pretty awesome to say the least

Although it was an appropriate end to the season, and it was powerful, it was not entirely shocking (to me). Right before the episode began, I ruined it for my dad by telling him "I think the sex with Cuddy was a hallucination, that he is not at all detoxed, and both Amber and Kutner will return." What was shocking was when House declared in public that he slept with Cuddy. And the way they worked the lipstick in, in addition to fake Cuddy, was very deft. It was good even if it could be predicted.

Damaged ='s interesting

I am a fan of House, not the medical part mind you. That's rather boring. The fun is really the study of people and their surroundings. House being house, makes him relate to all of the "flawed" people out in the wild. Drug addiction has its truly brilliant moments, Zepplin for example or Hendriks or Morrison etc....... And its rather heart breaking side, Anna Nicole. If you ever met her not in front of a camera you would understand. She was pretty cool. Marvin Gaye, Len Bias, Heath, An Adult star named Savannah, she too was amazing to chat with and talk with. I used to all the time with her etc....... I guess its the Staunch philosophy of brilliant drug induced hypocrits that's interesting or maybe its just the musing's they have from time to time. Hopefully they have better arc's next season, and maybe they should develop longer ones as well. Some more character development wouldn't hurt, and some one should write a "treatment" that is unique and intersecting.

Brilliant season finale!!!

The previous epsode made me sooo pissed with House. There was no freakin way a person who has been dependent on Vicodin for years, to have less than a day's detox, let alone overnight. Even that loose Vicodin on the bathroom floor scene was too cheesy I swore the writers of Grey's Anatomy must have written that. And to top all that, the morning after retching and vommiting, the patient had the health and libido to get it on and have sex with the boss. Medical specialists that they are, I was sure the writers of House must be smoking something when they wrote that.

Then it hit me, this must be all outside reality aka inside House's optoid cooked head. So I was looking forward to this final episode for some redemption. Hehehe then the epi started with a lipstick in the bathroom and Cuddy confronting House that he's just an employee blah blah blah. I was sure I'd never watch House again.

And then as the episode showed that House never had that single night detox and Cuddy leaving after he insulted her that evening, it all clicked into place. Damn, I should never lose faith in the House writers again.

Amber and Kutner in a single hallucination, both these deaths must have been too heavy on House's guilt that drove his already vulnerable mental health to fall off the edge.

Loved the last scenes, the haunting familiar song, the mixture of the happy wedding and the sad broken House walking towards a Psych hospital.

anyone else feel the hallucination thing was a bit of a rip off of blondie in greys anatomy?

and while im moaning what the hell was the wedding about, yeah becasue it takes people 2 minutes to have a wedding and make it just happen to be on the day house goes off to the loony bin
