I know, I know. Use the Search function. I went through the first few pages of hits and didn't find much of use, but I know the answer is out there somewhere. Now, I'm lazy. Has to do with the fact that I'm on summer vacation, I think. Anyway...do the iM716s (unmodded) sound as good as the ER4s? If so, which ER-4? If not, how different are they? Go!

No is the simple answer. But modded, they do approach ER4P, with same great detail but a little warmer sound overall. Still need an amp, however, to really shine. I am selling my 716s right now. Check out the for sale section. A very good deal, on a modded pair.

For horse flogging, the im716 doesn't compare to the ER4P. The cord on the im716 doesn't have enough heft to it to do nearly enough floggage to roust the horse into action. In addition, this lack of weight will also result in a most disappointing <twap> sound with the im716, as opposed to the <shHWARONGA!!!> sound from the ER4P as it resoundingly lays down the message that you will not be ignored.

With the ER4P, after all is said and done, you end up with a

With the im716, all the horse is going to do to you is talk back like a foul-mouthed 5 year old. With hooves.
