Hooverphonic - Renaissance Affair
Album - Blue Wonder Power Milk

If anyone else has this track, can you please confirm with me that the singer *sniffles* right after she finishes singing at the end of the track? It's driving me nuts. I first heard the song as an mp3 on a friend's comp, and thought it was maybe just a bad recording. I ended up purchasing Hoover's album and low and behold, same thing on the cd.

I may have to resort to ripping and editing the soundwave hah...

Thanks~

I'll have to give it a listen when I get home. Never noticed the sniffle.

I think I first heard the song on a VW commercial way back. Took me a while to find out who hit was.

Why would you edit that out? I always like it when I notice stuff like that... makes the music seem more real.

That is true...Perhaps I should look at it more in your direction. I think I feel better about it already, actually

Refined music (ex: pop) does seem very lacking in realism at times, now that I think of it. And I just read Zemo's awesome listening guide too. (http://www.fix-it.org/thread418.html) I should take a second look at it.

The "sniffle" is present on the track in both my copy of Blue Wonder Powder Milk and The Magnificent Tree, where it's included as a bonus track. After listening to both, I'm sure it's intentionally included in the track. I don't know if it was real or for effect, but building through the last few lines is, IMO, growing sadness, and that "sniffle" is either "staged" for effect, which I see has highly unlikely, or she actually lost it a little while singing those last few lines and it was one of those fortunate accidents. Either way, it's a good catch... I had never heard it before. I posted a question on their website's forum, which is supposed to be frequented by the band. If any responses pop up, I'll be sure to add a link.

On a side note, their site says they've recently finished recording a new album. I'm psyched to hear the new material. Sit Down and Listen To (Hooverphonic) was a nice way to tide fans over, as I actually like a lot of the versions of songs on that album more than the originals, but I'm definitely looking forward to new songs.

Well, the thread got a response from Alex, one of the guys in the band.

For those who don't care to go to their boards...

Yes it is a kind of sniffle or sigh but i don't have a clue anymore were it comes from. I still remember us loving it so much that we kept it in the recording.

Alex

So, straight from the source. I think it's pretty cool that they have a whole section of their boards to interact directly with fans.

Anyway, there you go.
