Yeah I can go with the HD 650 for overall better sound or go for the DT 770 for isolation. Or I could go for the Audio Technica ATH-W1000... but that's for another thread.

They will ship internationally. You have to do a bank transfer. And yes, it is a bit pricey.

Actually, if you're in America (U.S.), you should go to the American site: link

(Actually, looks like it links to the .de site, but still in English.)

Are the dt770 Pro 80 ohm headphone better than the HD 595?

From what I've READ, they are totally different cans. One is closed, and the other is open. Also, their sound signatures are different according to those fortunate enough to own both.

I only own the 770s as of now, and I can tell you why I chose them over the 595s:

I wanted a closed headphone that I could use for gaming, music, and movies that was comfortable, well-built, tended towards more bass, and had a good-sized soundstage to help me locate the "bad guys" in Battlefield 2. Right now, I feel I made a very, very good choice.

In a couple of months or so I may give the HD595s a try, because I would like to experience a nice set of "open" headphones. Or, I might exercise my right to brand loyalty and give a pair of 880s a try! I am sure that there are some types of music or activities that sound better on the 595s and/or the 880s than on my 770s, and it will be fun to identify those!

Edited to include the quote to which I was responding. -Luckybaer

The DT880 is a pretty different animal... personally, I love the DT770 but am not the biggest fan (while I do respect it) of the 880.

Same. I can see WHY people like the DT880, but it isn't for me.

There's definitely a unique charm to them. I just didn't think they were as "multipurpose" as they were made out to be... not by a longshot.

Just got mine from another user on this forum. They sound absolutely gorgeous. Alot of people say they are bass biased phones, but I disagree. The highs are particularly exquisite and the mids arent that bad either, just that bass and highs are abit better.

These are the most versatile cans I've owned so far. I can use it for my laptop and gaming just as well as music unlike my super.fi 5 pros which are exclusively for my ipod.

Holy Smoke is right!!! After reading this thread and many others like it. I finally took the plunge I found a new in the box DT770/80 on ebay, they arrived today and all I can say is wow what a fun can I love the sound. I think I have narrowed all my cans down to 2 favorites the AKG 501 and the DT770/80. My Senn and Grado will collect dust for a while.

Yep - I own a lot of cans, and the DT770/80 (Headphile modded) are what I actually listen to

Good thread.

I need a full-sized closed can and I have narrowed it down to the DT 770 and the A900 because I cannot at the moment justify AT Wood.

For those of you that have tried the DT 770, I've read that in addition to the bass, it is a little bright up top. Is this true? How fatiguing is the DT 770, if at all?

It's a little bright, but never unpleasantly so. I experience fatigue from Grado headphones (less so from Alessandros) and I listen to these for 5-7 hours at a time in heated WoW / Xbox weekend gaming sessions. If anything, it pulls out the upper end detail so often lost in these games on awful bass-heavy rigs. I've never found them fatiguing.

Oh, Monkey, YGPM!
