With such a low impedance, does any one know if it can be used with 880s or 650s?

USG

I'm wondering if it'll mate well with Grados given the specs.

Mine arrived. Looks very nice, but it's SMALL:

Quick listen out of the box - nice sound, warm and dark-ish. Needs break-in, though...

Skylab, It looks great! Does it have enough power?

Not sure yet. I'm at 1:00 on the volume control with my 600 ohm Beyers - and that's at my normal (not too loud) listening levels. But I am using the 12AT7's - they offer a 6CG7 version for more power.

The specs say:

100 milliwatts x 2 with ECC81/12AT7

200 milliwatts x 2 with 6CG7/6FQ7

I'm assuming you can just plug in 6CG7's to get twice the power. Correct?

I'm not sure - and the amp came with no manual

So I have emailed them this question.

I've been running mine with RCA cleartop 6CG7 for a few days.
So far great results with my lower impedance phones MDR-SA5000 and ATH-W5000.
But, AH-D5000 was way too warm/bassy for me!

Wasn't so impressed with drive capability for 250 Ohm DT880 (haven't tried 600 Ohm yet).

I hope Skylab can confirm that it was OK to plug in 6CG7 substitute, as I too had simply assumed it was from the specs!

hmmm...wouldnt be surprised if the dx1000 gives the same result :<

O well! *continues to enjoy his current system*

I really would wait, as I had been, for Skylab to review his unit before coming to that conclusion. I only meant to comment on the fact I'd tried the 6CG7.
I rarely post, so thought I would, but might have made a faux pas.
I really enjoy and appreciate Skylab's fully detailed gear reviews and his general input.

So far at least, I have the same overall impression with the Beyer DT990 - very warm and bassy. But I have yet to try it with other cans - I plan to break it in a while first.
