Think a rackmount enclosure would look nice for larger projects?

For the BB Gilmore amp I think I'll need about 8 or so inches width to fit all the panel components. Been looking at different places and Hammond seems to have nice looking rackmount enclosures....

The half width looks ok, concerned about the side things that hold the chrome bar though, they might look a bit funky.

Any suggestions?

Thanks eric, it doesn't say what the size of the enclosure is though but since it says "2 space model" I'm guessing it's just rackmount specifications then. 3.5 inches height and 19 inch width....

The "flush mounted screwless faceplate" worries me though. I plan on getting the panels done from frontpanelexpress.com and there needs to be a way for me to mount it via screws.

For the price of the case it's tempting though.

Front Panel Express seems very overpriced. While I haven't ordered from them, I was impressed by the support I received by them but not impressed with the product.

The problem with Front Panel Express is they machine your panel after metal finishing. So all of the edges, holes, and cavities are natural aluminum. You could have this fixed by having another company reanodize the panel for you (Front Panel Express won't do it) but then you'd lose any silkscreen labeling, and also dramatically increase the cost of the panel.

The panels I was designing for a rack mount size enclosure would have cost something like $90 for the front panel and $70 for the rear panel...not worth it.

Antness while I was looking for opinions on frontpanel express I found a post that you made. I emailed them about it and they said "most customers actually like the two colorness". Although I disagree I don't think it would be a big issue except for maybe the sides. The holes should not be visible anyway.

Without any text engravings the front panel comes out to be about $30 I would think. It's 20 right now and I'm not entirely done but it already has 3 mounting slots suitable for Neutrik 1/4 locking jacks.

The price seems pretty resonable to me, if I were to get this done by some other company the price would be higher. For somebody like you it's not worth it. It's cheaper to buy a puncher since you have to make many panels. But for me, the front panel already done up is about the same price as a puncher so it's better I think.
