Has anyone tried this combo yet? I was planning on feeding my HM801 from my computer's library through the HiFace.. in fact I'd get jkenny's modified hiface..

I'm wondering since the HM801 uses that mini-coaxial input, if there will be issues in connecting the BNC output of the hiface to the mini cable and then to the HM801

Why not just go USB into the 801

I've thought it about it and will compare the two,  but I assume its for the same reason that everyone bothers to use the HiFace in the first place.. that the Coaxial 'input' sounds better

USB input is not straight to I2S, it uses a USB to SPDIF converter chip.  So basically it's using a different DAC chip rather than going straight to the PCM1704K chips.

Without heavily modding it internally, yes.  Well, there's that and the SDHC card slot and internal memory.

Yeah my point is to be able to get same quality (or better) then if used with the internal SD card for when I'm at home and would just like it streamed from my pc

I use these all the time.
 
M2Hiface -> Coaxial In sounds much better than the standard USB implementation of the 801.  That's my 2 cents.
 
Only problem I have is the M2Hiface drivers are not that stable for Mac.
