I was starting to get over the waiting, but the impressions thread has satisfied me enough that I'm just going to wait.

Edit: got an email asking for a phone number so i guess i shouldn't have to wait to much longer.

BTW, anyone know if we are 'supposed' to use the included USB cable rather than an alternate?  That is a beastly, bionic USB cable.

It seems like the free RE-262 IEM is still included at the moment but that's impossible right? But then again if head-direct.com says so....

If you preorder HM-602 before Sept 1st, 2010, you will be able to get a new RE262 (top of the line) In-ear earphones for free.

That's why
.

It doesn't say you won't get them if you order later though.

That's kind of weird though, how can they offer a pair of 200$ earphones (they are 200$ right?) for free? It seems that the hm-602 should cost 200$ less
.
Well I hope that it's really a great offer but companies seem to have this drive to make profit
.

So got a reply from Nankai.  He says the included USB is just a standard USB cable.  Though it doesn't look like one...

Why doesn't it look like a standard usb cable? Because it has ferrites?

I don't get it either.  Why go to the trouble of making a cable like that when you can just use a cheapo USB?  I'm seriously concerned about using a standard usb cable till I get a proper answer.  Perhaps my question wasn't explicit enough or was misunderstood.  Would it help maintain signal when acting as a DAC?  I'm lost.

Edit - Was that a real question or rhetorical?  Otherwise you need a punctuation mark, lol.  I guess they are (two rather sizable chunky) ferrite 'beads'.  Makes sense.  Probably the nicest USB cable I have in that case.

It is a standard mini B USB cable (with ferrite pods). You can of course use your own mini-B USB cable with HM-602.
