I think you can maybe read it in the measurements, idk. I thought you might knew :)
In my measurement bass go as high as 3 kHz peak. So it should be 2-nd version.

First bassy version on the left - second on the right. Vent difference: round hole vs oblong hole (as on my unit).

But I didn't measure first version, so this is just my guess.

Thanks for the pictures. I also have this oblong hole! There was also a silently retuned version after the second version, you can read up on that on this thread. Hisenior went back on that retune though.

Yo what the! Is that vent difference consistent?

The source took these measurements. Round hole unit (few months old, blue on graph) and oblong hole unit (his new set, red on graph)

The increased base and 5khz boost indicates the oblong hole unit would be the re-tuned version.

My unit shipped on 2024 May 29th, I've asked both the seller and Hisenior which version I could've gotten. They both told me only units sold between July 1st and August 10th are 5khz revision versions. Yet my version has the oblong holes.

What hole type do guys have on yours sets? And do you know which version you got? (Assuming you got them before Hisenior switched to only selling original tuning)

I ordered mine on June 3rd and it didn't arrive til June 20th and mine has the oblong holes as well. This also lines up with my initial feelings about the sound vs what I had heard about it. They offered to let me send them to them to retune them but the shipping cost is a bit much.

They covered my shipping, it was 21EUR. Are you sure they were not willing to cover it for you?

Are you not happy with the sound?

I wish I knew which tuning I really got, just out of curiosity. Because I like it a lot.

Yeah they said I had to pay for shipping myself. And while I am happy with how they sound, after testing out the suggested eq settings to mimic how they're "supposed" to sound, I do prefer that. Although mine are quite bassy, which is something else I like about them and I don't know if them "retuning" is actually adjusting the person's specific set or just exchanging them with a different pair. Either way, I'm torn on what I wanna do rn but leaning towards just keeping them. My fav IEMs are the xenns top and even these revision version of the mega5est is different enough to give me a reason to complement my top with them.

In my case, they shipped me a new pair with the proper tuning, I did not have to wait for them to receive mine and retune it.
I am a bit confused why they don't want to cover your shipping, but they did for me. It was their mistake after all.
Weird..

A few days ago I received mine, ordered from a German vendor. My pair also sports the oblong venting hole; from what I have read and therefore expected upfront, I‘m quite sure I got the „silent retuned“ version. So far I like sound very much, but I will try EQing the „original“ signature. Let‘s see. For now, I am still in awe of the dynamics and great qualities of this IEM for listening at low volume.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am seriously thinking of ditching the Mega5EST already... I have found such a surprisingly more durable, better isolating and perfectly neutral sounding alternative in the Westone Mach 80. I originally acquired it as an upgrade of the Shure SE846 for drumming and riding my bike, but I do not miss a thing listening to it...
These 50% longer foam tips included are truly magical. Such perfectly preserved sound is rare in IEMs.

It seems like this one went under the radar, undeservedly so in my opinion. Can highly recommend trying them for yourself.

If anyone from Germany or the EU is interested with a real offer, I am seriously considering to sell my unit. It is in great condition, everything included.
