I am searching for a pair of high end universals, with a detachable cable.

I do have the TF10, which has the detachable cable. I like the sound signature just fine ( a bit colored, but fun). Even with the flip mod and complies, it feels like a bolt is in my ear... Yeah, once I figure out the best way to get the medium olives in, I'll try those as well.

I have a new to me pair of UM3X. I like the sound signature, though a bit flatter than the TF10, MUCH less fatiguing, and extremely comfy with the medium shure olives. The whole package is a bit on the flimsy feeling side, especially the cables.

I've owned shure SE530's. Loved the sound. SE530 cables, need I say more?

I'll also add that I would like something with less sensitivity than any of the ones listed above, and especially the westones. I can only go to the first click on my iphone. Either off or first setting. Everything else is too loud most of the time. I've been using the airline adapter / attenuator from my TF10's with both.

I know there are a bunch of you that collect iems (I *only* have two pairs. I think 3 or more makes you a collector...). I'm hoping some of you will chime in with helpful comments. Thank you all!

I think right now few high end universal IEMs are available with detacthable cables and only i know are TF10Pro, IE8, upcoming SE535, SF5Pro and SF5EB.

Etymotic ER4 S/P. Best of the best (imho), detachable cables, and built like a friggin tank.

in terms of high end universals theres not that many with user replaceable cables. You have the TF10 which is one of the better known ones. IE8, ER4, SA6 if you consider that high end. Outside of that theres not that many that I know of at least.

Removed a cranky comment of mine, that really had no useful purpose here. Sometimes I'm just a cranky SOB... Apologies to a tumiwa, who ended up posting a very helpful thread further down.

As an old friend said, and I try with pretty limited success to remember - "It's nice to be nice."

If you love the UM3X you could get it reshelled into a custom which would have detachable cables.
If you want low sensitivity, ER4S maybe?

I've considered the re-shell. I will likely do this with either the TF10 or ES3X. I'm leaning toward the TF10, because the ES3X is quite comfortable as an iem. As for the Etymotics, I haven't heard them, but the descriptions of the sound signature just doesn't sound like my speed.

Take a look at the Panasonic HJE900's as well, I've got a pair myself and they're quite amazing for the price (got em from J&R for 110 bucks back when they still had em in stock, don't know how much they're going for now).

And, sorry to hijack the thread but, does anybody know for sure if the HJE900 cable is interchangeable with the Sleek Audio cables? I remember seeing something about them having the same connectors but I can't seem to find the post anymore. I was thinking it'd be pretty badass to have wireless buds.

I had the exact same thought before I tried them, based on what others have said about lack of bass, overkill treble, etc... I gotta say, once I gave them one listen, I almost instantly knew they were my favs. Made everything else seem imperfect.

You need to try them. It's like sonic heroin...

I just deleted a really not very nice comment. I did search, but not exhaustively. I'll leave it that if you don't like someone's thread, please refrain from posting, rather than playing threadcop. Please.

Others have been very helpful. From the looks of your signature, you could have been, as well. Thank you.
