HiFimeDIY DAC vs OnBoard DAC

Oct 31, 2013 at 1:52 PM Post #2 of 4
I received the HiFimeDIY DAC today and I can hardly tell the difference between it and my on-board DAC....Is there a way to test it ?

Which headphones are you using?
Are you using a headphone amplifier, along with the Hifimediy DAC?
Try using the program Foobar2000, for playing audio files.

I tested it with A700x .
I am not using a headphone amplifier
I use foobar2000.

I can't differentiate between the On-board DAC and HiFimeDIY DAC ... maybe that's how it is supposed to be as someone here told me that DAC is the least important factor when it comes to sound quality...I wonder if there is a way to test ?

Audio Technicas seem to sound the same no matter what they are plugged into, from my personal experence.

Try the ATH-A700Xs with a portable audio player.
Portable audio players usually have a very low output impedance, which is benefitual for lower Ohm headphones, like the A700X.
